...HIGH SURF ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 6 PM HST THIS EVENING FOR NORTH AND WEST FACING SHORES OF NIIHAU KAUAI OAHU MOLOKAI AND NORTH FACING SHORES OF MAUI... .A large northwest swell will gradually decline today, though surf heights are expected to remain above advisory levels along all exposed north and west facing shores. Looking ahead, an extra large long period swell will arrive late tonight into Thursday, which will likely require an upgrade to High Surf Warning. * WHAT...For north facing shores, surf heights of 12 to 16 feet. For west facing shores, surf heights of 8 to 12 feet. * WHERE...North and west facing shores of Niihau, Kauai, Oahu, Molokai, and north facing shores of Maui. * WHEN...Until 6 PM HST this evening. * IMPACTS...Moderate. Strong breaking waves and strong currents will make swimming dangerous.
