At 1015 PM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms along a line extending from Mission Woods to 6 miles south of Overland Park to near Gardner. Movement was southeast at 30 mph. HAZARD...Wind gusts of 50 to 55 mph. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Locations impacted include... Kansas City, Overland Park, Olathe, Independence, Lee's Summit, Shawnee, Blue Springs, Lenexa, Leawood, Raytown, Liberty, Gladstone, Grandview, Belton, Prairie Village, Raymore, Gardner, Excelsior Springs, Merriam, and Mission. This includes the following highways... Interstate 70 in Missouri between mile markers 0 and 19. Interstate 70 in Kansas between mile markers 411 and 423. Interstate 35 in Missouri between mile markers 0 and 21. Interstate 35 in Kansas between mile markers 203 and 235. Interstate 29 between mile markers 0 and 13. * WHAT...Urban and small stream flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected. * WHERE...Portions of Kansas, including the following counties, Johnson, Leavenworth and Wyandotte and west central Missouri, including the following counties, Clay, Jackson and Platte. * WHEN...Until 1045 PM CDT. * IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 733 PM CDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. This will cause urban and small stream flooding. Between 0.5 and 1 inch of rain has fallen. - Additional rainfall amounts of 0.5 to 1 inch are expected over the area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding. - Some locations that will experience flooding include...
